Turrach
The history of the village has always been determined by timber and iron. Since the mine was closed down in 1909, many inhabitants have focused on forestry. Today our idyllic village located at the foot of the Turracher Höhe invites visitors to linger or use it as ideal base for numerous hikes of all levels of difficulty. From leisurely strolls and relaxing hikes for the whole family following mountain ridges across gentle alpine pastures and flat trails to ambitious alpine tours to summits up to 2,441 m (e.g. Eisenhut, the highest peak of the Nockberge mountains) for the more intrepid - the opportunities know no bounds.Turrach mining museum
Since 1999, the "Timber and Iron" museum has exhibited maps, documents and pictures that provide an insight into the region's 250-year old mining history. The museum's highlight among the craft tools is the famous Bessemer converter, a cylindrical refractory vessel used for producing steel."Zum Bergmann"- regional and traditional gourmet cooking
